2018 Silver Bells Senior Training Sponsored by NFB-NEWSLINE(R) TEXAS

July 25, 2018

Come and join members of the National Federation of the Blind of Texas for the 2018 Silver Bells Senior Training Program. The training is sponsored by NFB-NEWSLINE® TEXAS and is scheduled to take place in Austin, on the weekend of August 23-26.

Blind seniors, aged 55 and over, are invited to participate in this special seminar. You don’t have to be from Austin, NFB-NEWSLINE® TEXAS is making scholarships available to assist seniors from across the state. So, contact our office for more details regarding both the training weekend and the scholarships. We can get an application to you, and if you aren’t able to complete the application on your own, we have staff and volunteers who are willing to help you.

Training topics will include how to use NFB-NEWSLINE® TEXAS with a touch-tone phone, online, with a smartphone app, and with Alexa. Learning how to use NFB-NEWSLINE® TEXAS will not only prepare you to take advantage of all this free audio newspaper and information service has to offer, it will also give you tools that will allow you to use your smartphone and other technology for every day independence.

So, learning how to use NFB-NEWSLINE® TEXAS effectively will teach you how to manage other apps, how you can retrieve email sent to you by the service and by your grandchildren, how to read those recipes and other information you learn to email to yourself, and more. Our goal is to help blind seniors continue to live the lives they want. The high tech and low tech tools we will give you during the Silver Bells Senior Training will start you on that path.
